Durable and Stable

The AST system utilizes advanced yarn chemistry and structural design, resulting in a more stable and durable fabric. Innovative weave patterns and improved polymer combinations provide stability and durability for even the most demanding press applications. The polymeric blends create exceptional machine direction strength and cross direction dimensional consistency. The AST is also available with larger diameter materials, providing unsurpassed void volume without sacrificing fabric stability.

Voith Paper Fabrics utilizes the know-how and expertise of yarn R&D and manufacturing facility Syn Strand, which developed yarn technology exclusively for the AST press fabric. Customers can benefit through:

  • Higher wear resistance of the AST (reduced risk of seam failures)

  • Higher machine- and cross-directional stability of the AST (reduced fingering effect)

  • Improved durability in the seam flap area (Less seam flap wear and reduction in sheet mark)

The technologically advanced approach of the AST allows us to meet any customers demands. Base module options are available to being adapted to a wide range of applications.

The fabric’s unique base system further contributes to stability, with several choices of base fabrics available. For example, LT Series – a base weave system developed to provide dimensional stability, caliper and improved void volume for water handling – can be incorporated into the AST fabric.

Durability of the seam loop and the seam area were also areas of focus in the development of AST. Voith Paper Fabrics produces durable loop systems that can handle extreme running conditions. Proprietary technology ensures seam flap integrity, batt entanglement and long-term durability.
